Meet Masafumi Watanabe
Masafumi Watanabe was born in Tokyo, Japan. After several years of experience as a Fashion Model in his teens and with an Art School degree from Musashino Art University in his pocket, he then moved to
London, England.
While in England he became interested in the creative side of fashion
and when he returned to Japan, he participated in the launch of apparel brands. Taking advantage of his experience, Masafumi became more involved in the Adult street fashion industry and eventually founded BEDWIN in 2004. In 2020 Masafumi opened DAYZ, a select shop composed of Tokyo and sneaker brands, in MIYASHITA PARK.
Today, he leads CHIU CHIU Studio's Japan Division. Discover his journey below:
1994
Graduated from Musashino Art University and then moved to London.
1997
Launched the fashion brand TENDERLOIN.
2004
Founded DLX Co., Ltd. and launched the DELUXE and BEDWIN brands.
2007
Rebranded BEDWIN as BEDWIN & THE HEARTBREAKERS. This brand has collaborated with Adidas, Clarks, VANS, and more.
2014 - 2016
Responsible for the creative direction of TOMMY HILFIGER “M.W FOR TOMMY”.
2017 - 2019
Responsible for the creative direction of the REEF Brand.
2018 - 2024
Director in charge of GOATʼs creative direction.
2019 - 2020
Responsible for the creative direction of PENDLETON “PH”.
2020 - 2024
Launched the select shop DAYZ, located in Shibuya Miyashita Park.
2022 - 2024
In charge of creative direction for TIMBERLAND+813.
